Our mission is to educate members to become more active participants in their treatment teams. Through our work, we aim to empower individuals with bipolar disorder to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. With a focus on evidence-based research, we strive to provide valuable insights and resources to support individuals living with bipolar disorder. WHO WE ARE

At Research and Conversations About Bipolar Disorder Inc., we are a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Maryland, committed to bridging the gap between the academic study of bipolar disorder and the lived experiences of those affected by it. Our team of researchers, mental health professionals, and individuals with firsthand experience of bipolar disorder work together to foster a deeper understanding of this complex condition. We believe that through research, collaboration, and open dialogue, we can improve the lives of those living with bipolar disorder and their loved ones. Our mission is to empower patients to become active participants in their treatment plans, working hand-in-hand with their healthcare providers to achieve optimal wellness. By providing a platform for sharing knowledge, resources, and support, we aim to combat the stigma surrounding mental health and create a community where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported. Our motto, "Empowering Wellness Through Knowledge," encapsulates our commitment to education and empowerment as the key to improving the lives of those affected by bipolar disorder. At Research and Conversations About Bipolar Disorder Inc., we are committed to providing a comprehensive range of services and resources to support individuals affected by bipolar disorder, their loved ones, and clinicians. Our multifaceted approach includes:

  1. Guest Lectures: We host Guest Lectures by prominent researchers in the field of bipolar disorders, providing invaluable insights into the latest advances in understanding, diagnosing, and treating this condition. These lectures are designed to be accessible to patients, family members, and clinicians, promoting a deeper understanding of bipolar disorder.

  2. Psychoeducation Classes: We offer psychoeducation classes by experienced mental health professionals, equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to better manage their condition and improve their overall well-being. These lectures cover a wide range of topics, from understanding the nature of bipolar disorder to developing effective coping strategies and self-care practices.

  3. Up-to-Date Research: We provide access to the latest research on bipolar disorder, ensuring that our community has the most current and accurate information available. Our library of articles is constantly updated, and we encourage our members to explore this valuable resource to stay informed about the latest developments in the field.

  4. Mood Tracking and Medication Adherence Kits: We understand the importance of monitoring one's mood and adhering to prescribed medication regimens. To support our members in these crucial aspects of managing bipolar disorder, we provide the NIMH Life Chart Method mood tracking journals (used in clinical trials today) and medication adherence kits, empowering individuals to take an active role in their treatment and well-being. Medication Adherence kits include the mood journal, a pillbox, and a pen and we ship to members worldwide!

  5. Biweekly Support Group: We host a biweekly support group where individuals affected by bipolar disorder can connect with others who understand their experiences, share their struggles and successes, and find a sense of community and belonging. These support groups are facilitated by trained moderators and provide a safe, non-judgmental space for open and honest dialogue.

  6. Ask the Experts: We encourage our members to ask questions about bipolar disorder, and our team of experts is dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence-based responses drawing from the most current academic literature. This feature allows individuals to gain a deeper understanding of their condition and make informed decisions about their treatment and well-being.

HOW WE DO IT

At Research and Conversations About Bipolar Disorder Inc., we are committed to providing our services and resources to individuals affected by bipolar disorder worldwide. Through a combination of community support, dedicated staff, and the generosity of our donors, we are able to extend our reach and impact on an international scale.

1. 

  1. Mood Journals: Thanks to the generous donations of stamps from our members, we are able to mail out NIMH Life Chart Method mood journals to individuals who request them, regardless of their location. These journals are designed to help people track their moods, identify patterns, and gain valuable insights into their mental health journey, no matter where they reside. 

  2. Medication Adherence Kits: We understand that managing medication can be a challenge, which is why we provide medication adherence kits to those in need, both domestically and internationally. These kits are made possible through the financial donations we receive from our global network of supporters, allowing us to purchase and assemble the necessary components to help individuals stay on track with their treatment plans, irrespective of their geographic location. They include the mood journal, a pillbox, and a pen. 

  3. Guest Lectures: We are proud to collaborate with leading researchers in the field of bipolar disorder from around the world who graciously donate their time and expertise to deliver informative and engaging guest lectures on articles they've recently written. By leveraging our international network and reputation, we are able to attract top talent and provide our global community with access to the most current and authoritative information available.

  4. Monthly Psychoeducation Classes: Our team works diligently to design and implement monthly psychoeducation classes that cover a wide range of topics related to bipolar disorder. These classes are carefully curated to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills they can apply in their daily lives to better manage their condition and improve their overall well-being, regardless of their cultural background or geographic location.

  5. Biweekly Support Group: We are fortunate to have a dedicated individual who voluntarily runs our biweekly support group, which is open to participants from all over the world. This person's commitment and passion for helping others is the driving force behind the success of these meetings, which provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to connect, share, and learn from one another, transcending borders and time zones.

  6. Scholarly Article Responses: When our members have questions about bipolar disorder, our team of experts, drawn from various countries and backgrounds, is ready to provide thoughtful, well-researched responses backed by scholarly articles. By leveraging our access to international academic resources and our global network of professionals, we are able to facilitate meaningful conversations and provide our community with the most up-to-date and accurate information available.
